As someone with extremely oily, acne scarred skin I did not think it was possible to get my eyebrows semi or permanently done. I was afraid of possibly worsening my acne scars by getting my eyebrows tattooed or microbladed.
But then I found out about ombre powder eyebrows!

What are ombre powder brows?
- Ombre powder eyebrows are the process of placing small, thin dots of pigment into the skin which creates an “ombre” or soft brow pencil look on eyebrows.
What’s the difference between microblading vs ombre powder eyebrows?
- Microblading is the process of creating hair-like strokes into the skin by carving small cuts into the skin. Microblading is not suited for everyone, especially people with oily skin because the line strokes can fade over time and become blurry. On the other hand, the ombre powder eyebrows process is less invasive and suitable for most skin types. Please contact a brow specialist with your skin type and references before booking an appointment.
- Both microblading and ombre powder brows are semi-permanent, lasting 2-5 years with touch up appointments.
How much do ombre powder eyebrows cost?
- Ombre powder brows cost can range from $500 – $1,000 depending on the artist and experience level. Touch up appointments can range $100 – $500 depending on how well the brows retained coloration and how long it’s been since the first procedure had taken place.
What is the healing process of ombre powder eyebrows?
- The healing process takes one month and requires application of a healing ointment.
- During the healing process, refrain from using any face creams or exfoliants, and limit exposure from the sun (wear sunblock).
Day 1-2: Expect eyebrows to be extremely dark and thick, with redness in and surrounding the brows.
Day 3-4: Eyebrows will harden and begin to peel, and may feel itchy.
Day 3-10: Apply healing ointment twice a day.
Day 10-14: Eyebrows will scab off naturally. Do not pick at brows.
Day 15: Eyebrows are healed but may still appear pinkish!
Day 16-30: Eyebrows will slowly get darker as the color resurfaces.

Does ombre powder eyebrows hurt?
- This all depends on a person’s pain tolerance. Depending on your brow artist, numbing cream may be used during the ombre powder process or can be requested. From my personal experience, my brow artist used numbing cream and I have a pretty high pain tolerance so it did not hurt at all.
