Young and Hungry? Interview Questions From a College Student

Recently I interviewed for a summer marketing internship. I had interesting job interview questions asked to me.

During one of the many interviews, I was asked how old I was out of curiosity of the interviewer. Knowing I was super under qualified for the position I was applying for, partly in that I was too young, I nervously replied that I was a freshman in college. To my shock, the interviewer then told me that she noticed how I had been confident all through out the interview until that question, where she then saw me sheepishly reply. She proceeded to tell me to embrace my age instead of being embarrassed.

She said that being young did not make me any less qualified for the position I was applying for.

Reflecting back on this, I wish I thanked that interviewer for not only comforting me when I was nervous, but also teaching me a valuable lesson. I learned that I should be proud of who I am and not see it as an obstacle in getting what I want. Because in the end, it doesn’t matter how old or how young, how big or how small, or how blue and purple you are.

What does matter is what you can do.
